Today I have a round-up of my current highlighters that I have in rotation. Some of these, I use more than others. So let’s get to it!
Clé de Peau Beauté Luminizing Face Enhancer in Pastel. This is by far the most pricey highlighter I own. You can purchase the highlighter and the palette separately. If I recall correctly, it’s around $55CAD for the highlighter and $40 for the case. This is a product I purchased due to the recommendation of Raeview & Sabrina from The Beauty Look Book. I heard a lot of positive reviews on #13 and how the highlighters are the “must-have highlighter for Brides’.
The product itself is beautifully made. I really like the prism design and there aren’t many cool-toned, pale highlighters in the market. Now I don’t imagine this color working for many people, other than pale-skin girls such as myself. I think the 3 other color options are better for the mass market.
The packaging is also beautiful, very unique – costed enough.
Overall, I don’t know if I used this enough times to give a recommendation on this, yet. I want to use this product more so I can give a thorough review. In the meanwhile, you can find swatches and comparisons below.
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl. $50CAD for 1.7 oz or $23CAD for .68 oz. This was a Lisa Eldridge enabled purchase, and I can see why. I have been using this religiously and I don’t think it’s possible to use up the whole tube! To be honest, I think my bottle dates back to Dec 2013 and it’s still going on strong.
You can apply this under your foundation, mixed with your foundation, or as a highlight. I usually mix this in with my foundation and on special occasions I’ll add it again as a highlighter. It gives the skin a natural dewy glow.
The travel size is only available in Moonstone and Opal. But I’ve notice smaller holiday sets that contains Pearl.
Summary of why I love it:
- Comes in a range of colors to suit every skin tone – Pearl is perfect for pale-skin girls
- You get a lot of product
- Great as a complexion enhancer and highlighter
- Easy to blend
- Hygienic packaging
This has my seal of approval. Milan also has her own bottle.
Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact in Highlight 01. $48CAD for 0.26 oz. I heard a lot of YouTubers talk about this one as well. I received mine as part of Sephora’s 500 point perk. To be honest, I wasn’t as impressed by this. It was okay. I found it to be a bit on the powdery side.
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow (in Light to Medium).$68USD for 0.56 oz (for full palette). The highlighter grew on me for this one. This is probably my favorite Charlotte Tilbury item, I love how you have your sculpt and highlight shade.
The shades are very flattering. I really like the highlight shade on my mom as well.
The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer. $24CAD. This is a serious highlighter – make sure you’re careful with this one; you only need a little bit of product for some serious shine. I personally would only wear this during a night out.
Benefit Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter. $39CAD for 0.33oz. I did a review on this recently. I think this is probably the least expensive and one of the best (can’t decide between this and Becca). You can’t go wrong here, very good product.
Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Mosaic. $52CAD for .21 oz. When I saw this in store I thought this was the most gorgeous color I’ve ever seen. Turns out it was sold out, so I ended up purchasing it on Sephora.com. I had this for a while and I can say this is not something I reach for often. I think it’s a little too “shimmery” for my liking, so I end up using the individual colors as eye shadow.
I think you can pass on this.
