NUDESTIX Lip + Cheek Pencil in Love – Review and Swatches

Today I have NUDESTIX’s Lip + Cheek Pencil in Love to share with you. This is the first product I’ve tried from the NUDESTIX line – I think the idea is really neat, something about the thought of carrying your whole-face essentials in pencil form.
I would describe this as a semi-sheer, pinky nude color. The color itself is lovely for those with lighter skin tones; I’m not sure how this will translate with those to medium to dark skin tones. I noticed nudes that look good on me can look quite strange on Milan – who is a couple of shades darker than me (and to be fair, the undertones of our skin is different too).

The formula is semi-sheer and creamy in texture, so it glides on pretty easily. To be honest, I don’t think this lipstick will work well with those with drier lips. On days that my lips are not as hydrated, I notice the formula can cling on to my dry patches. It also settles in the fine lines of my lips too – it’s not that noticeable but if I observe closely I can see it. Although it might not look as great on dry lips, I found the formula to be very comfortable on the lips. As for smell, I think it’s non-scented but it does have a waxy – Crayola-like smell. The smell isn’t offensive to my nose, but it’s not a delightful experience (I personally love the faint vanilla smell that Tom Ford & MAC has).

On the cheeks it wears pretty decently and it’s quite easy to blend. This is a cream formula, and it stays that way (unlike formulas that are cream-to-powder), so if you don’t like the sticky/tacky feeling on your cheeks, you won’t like this on. I personally don’t mind, my favorite cream blush from Tom Ford is also a bit tacky, but that is what gives it that luminous glow to the face.

The packaging on this is pretty cute. It comes in a black metal tin that contains a full-size mirror inside the lid. You can re-purpose the tin to keep other make up bits in your purse. Inside the tin, it also contains a small sharpener for your NUDESTIX. The design for the sharpener is quite cleaver – basically you can just attached it to your NUDESTIX pencil. I think the sharpener is a really great addition, and it’s perfect for other fat make-up pencils you have.

Overall, I found the formula to be average, nothing really stood out to me but it’s something I will still continue to use. However I will say that if I come across a nice color, I will purchase it because the formula is quite comfortable. I think NUDESTIX is great for those who travel frequently or who like to carry her make-up bag on her. I’ll probably check out their shadows one day. What do you guys think of it? Have any of you tried anything from the NUDESTIX line?
