Setting Spray Round Up

Happy Monday!

Today I have a round-up of my setting sprays. I only have 3 featured for this post so keep scrolling to hear my thoughts on each one.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix +
100mL/3.4 fl oz for $26 CAD

This is my most used setting spray of the bunch. This helps sets my makeup so well, especially on days where my foundation isn’t sitting as nicely on my skin, or if I’m dry or if I want to freshen up my makeup throughout the day. It gives the skin a nice dewy finish and helps get rid of any powdery residue you may have. With that being said, I usually apply this after I complete my makeup to give my skin a fresh dewy look.

I ended up loving this product so much that I purchased a travel size version of it (which I end up finishing). To be honest, this is the only setting spray I’ve tried where I noticed a difference in my skin after application. I also use it to intensify any shimmery or sparkly eye shadows. I highly recommend this product.

Travel size available for $12 CAD.

Urban Decay Chill Setting Spray 118mL/4 fl oz for $36 CAD

This comes in 3 variations: Chill, All Nighter, and De-Slick. When I first came across this line, I had no idea what the difference was between the three. So let me share what I’ve learnt:

  • Chill – Dry Skin
  • All Nighter – Normal Skin
  • De-Slick – Oil Skin

I ended up purchasing Chill, since that’s what Jaclyn Hill was using. To be honest, I’m not 100% sure if I notice a difference on how long my makeup lasts. In general, my makeup holds up pretty well without re-touching. I still use this product every so often, pairing it with the MAC Fix +.

Comes in a travel size for $15.

Coola Makeup Setting Spray SPF 30 50mL/ 1.7oz for $36 USD

I really liked the idea for this setting spray, but I could not get over the strong alcohol smell. Normally I test products on my neck before applying it to my face – just in case I get an allergic reaction. Now, what I liked is that this setting spray has sun protecting qualities and it’s an easy way to re-touch your sunscreen throughout the day. What I didn’t like was: 1 – the smell, 2 – how sticky it made my neck feel. Because of that, I never ended up trying it on my face.

To end off the post, I wanted to share a few other settings sprays I’ve been eyeing:

Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50 3.4oz for $28 USD
setting - supergoop

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist 1.35oz for $60 CAD/$48 USD
Setting - tatcha

Caudalie Beauty Elixir
3.4 oz $53CAD/$49 USD
setting - caudalie

L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Perfecting Mist
3.3oz for $25 CAD/ $24 USD
setting - loccitane

What do you guys think, have you tried any of these setting sprays?
