Today I have YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture The Mats in 207, Rose Perfecto. I stumbled across this lipstick when I was browsing my local Sephora and this one caught my eye; I have nothing in my collection like it. Now I don’t think this is a very unique color, but it’s unique in my own stash (oddly, I don’t have any rose tone lipsticks other than Tom Ford Indian Rose – which I’m saving for my wedding day).
I decided to give this color a go for my engagement photo session; most of the colors I have are on the peachy side or too dark for summer. Upon application I noticed that it was very smooth and pigmented. It was very easy to apply, but if your lip line is not very distinct – you’ll have to use a steady hand or add some lip liner.
In terms of scent, it has a distinct floral scent (as do most of YSL’s products). To me, it was quite pleasant… reminds me a little of L’occitane’s hand creams. The smell fades after wearing.
Overall the lipstick color stayed on from 8AM to 1PM and wore off after eating.
The packaging on this is quite lovely – solid, sturdy, has a nice weight and look luxurious.
This formula wears quite comfortable on the lips, I find that matte formulas can be on the drying side (e.g. NARS audacious).
I’m quite happy that I wore this during my engagement photo session, I think if I went with a lighter color the DLSR will wash me out. I’m actually rethinking Tom Ford Indian Rose as my wedding color – once it gets closer to the wedding, I will put the two up to the test.
